After spending the prior several years developing and implementing intelligence-led
policing techniques to drive the accuracy and efficacy of criminal investigations, the
Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office Investigative Services Bureau (ISB) focused on training
and mentoring its skilled investigators, researchers, technicians, and support staff in
2024, in the midst of a time-consuming, all-hands-on-deck, high-profile homicide
investigation.
Many opportunities were provided to ISB members to introduce new skills and
information and improve existing knowledge bases. For example, two ISB deputy sheriffs
completed basic detective training.
Other ISB members completed the following courses: Homicide and Crime Scene
Management, Data Exploitation: Cell Phones, Technology, Mapping, and Analysis, DCI
White Collar, Public Integrity Investigative Training, Shooting Incident Reconstruction,
Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs, Death Investigations, and High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area
(HIDTA) Fentanyl Training.
