PATROL DIVISION
The MCSO prides itself on being the most active agency in the State of Wisconsin
as it pertains to Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) enforcement. In the past, the
agency had its own OWI Task Force. The MCSO has also partnered with other
agencies to conduct joint enforcement operations.
Staffing challenges no longer allow us to staff a separate task force. However, we
continue to staff partnered/joint OWI task forces with the use of State/Federal
grant funding. As a result of this creative use of staffing and resources, OWI
arrests hit a five-year high in 2024, up 12% from 2023 and 40% from 2022.
